Dad shot dead in kitchen while wife and kids were home after recent break-in in sleepy Texas town

Police are continuing to look for a motive after a shooting in the sleepy town of Richmond, Texas.

Mohammad Khodr, 39, was killed in his home in Richmond i n 2021. He was shot by home invaders while his wife and children were home .

His mother-in-law Sana Zuri told Fox26 that three people drove up to the house and two got out to come to the door. Someone let them inside.

She said: “They shot him three times in the kitchen. He tried to get his gun, but he could not make it.”

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office describes the incident as a home invasion, but they are still searching for a motive.

Neighbor Vasant Deo says the home still feels like a crime scene, as it hasn't been cleaned since the shooting. The whole neighborhood has rally behind Mohammad’s wife following the tragedy.

Deo told Fox26: "We went to her house, and she said, ‘I need my car keys and the garage door has to be open.’ I wasn't sure what to do, but as a neighbor, I have to help her."

Mohammad’s family and friends are still grieving his loss.

"Anybody need help the neighbors, friend, me, the girls, he can do it. And now, we miss him," said Zuri.
