RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Stormy conditions have prompted multiple local governments to close the gates of or delay their Fourth of July celebrations . But will the weather cause these shows to be fully canceled or rescheduled?

According to StormTracker8 chief meteorologist John Bernier , the storms should move far east of Richmond in time for these celebrations to kick off and start their big shows.

Chesterfield and Hanover counties, as well as the City of Richmond, are hosting events this Independence Day. The bad weather prompted the localities to urge excited attendees to wait in their cars until the weather passed.

Here’s the current status of each of these shows:

Richmond’s The Big Show at Dogwood Dell

As of 6:34 p.m., RVA Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities announced that the city’s celebrations will proceed as scheduled. The city plans to begin the show with the Richmond Concert and at 7 p.m., with the Dell to open fifteen minutes prior to allow guests in.

The fireworks display should light up the sky at about 9:15 p.m. or so.

The city previously asked that guests either seek shelter in their cars or remain home and delay coming to the event.

Red, White & Lights in Henrico County’s Meadow Farm Museum

As of 5:40 p.m., the county opened the show’s gates. The show is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with the laser light show synced to music by the Richmond Symphony slated for 8 p.m. Thursday night.

“We are continuing to monitor the weather and will post here if there are any additional updates,” said Henrico County Recreation and Parks in a Facebook post .

The county previously advised attendees to shelter in place or delay coming to the event. It also said in the comments of an earlier Facebook post that the event would not be rescheduled if a cancellation was needed.

Fourth of July Celebration at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds

As of 5:56 p.m., the county announced that it will reopen the fairgrounds’ gates to welcome in attendees at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation previously asked guests to remain in their cars until the worst of the weather has passed. The gates to the fairgrounds were closed during that time.

This article will be regularly updated with the most recent status on these shows.
