DOLTON, Ill. (July 22, 2014) — Senior Trustee Jason House officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of the embattled Village of Dolton. A news release emailed to The Lansing Journal said an announcement event is scheduled for Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at the Free-N-Deed Food Pantry located at 14200 MLK Drive in Dolton.

One Dead, Five Wounded in Separate Shootings Hours Apart in Chicago's North Lawndale
Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood was the scene of a violent day on Monday with two separate shootings occurring mere hours apart, leaving one man dead and five others wounded. According to CBS Chicago, the fatal incident took place around 3 p.m. in the backyard of a residence located on the 4100 block of West Cermak Road. A 37-year-old man succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head at the scene. Alongside him, a 34-year-old man suffered a leg injury, and a 26-year-old was shot in the chest and armpit. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and are reported to be in good condition.
