RIDDLE MAN JAILED AFTER ALLEGED MENACING INCIDENT
A Riddle man was jailed after an alleged menacing incident late Friday night. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 11:00 p.m. deputies responded to the 14000 block of North Myrtle Road in the Myrtle Creek area after a text to dispatchers said there was a disturbance with a firearm.
DFPA DEALS WITH TRESTLE FIRE
Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and other agencies dealt with a fire approximately one mile north of the Myrtle Creek exit on Interstate 5 on Sunday. DFPA Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said just before 5:15 p.m. the Riddle Fire Department, Myrtle Creek Fire Department, and the Tri-City Fire Department, along with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and Oregon Department of Transportation responded to a reported smoke column near mile marker 107 northbound on the freeway.
ROSEBURG POLICE CITE WOMAN FOR DUII/FAILURE TO PERFORM DUTIES OF A DRIVER
Roseburg Police cited a woman for DUII and failure to perform the duties of a driver-property damage on Monday. An RPD report said at 5:05 p.m. officers responded to the 2100 block of Northwest Andrea Street after a caller said that a vehicle being driven by a female had hit a parked car and left the scene. The 71-year-old woman allegedly returned shortly after and threw her vehicle registration at the victim.
ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER ALLEGED ASSAULT INCIDENT
Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged assault incident Saturday night. An RPD report said at 8:00 p.m. the 43-year-old was allegedly trespassing at a business in the 500 block of Northeast Winchester Street and refused to leave. The suspect reportedly threw a gallon of water at an employee as he was being chased off the property, which caused an injury to the victim’s eye and face.
DEPUTIES JAIL ROSEBURG MAN FOR DUII CHARGE
Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for DUII on Saturday afternoon. A DCSO report said at approximately 2:40 p.m. the 58-year-old was called in as leaving from a location intoxicated. A deputy checked the area and saw the suspect stumbling out from a residence in the 200 block of Club Avene, north of Roseburg, to his vehicle. The man told the deputy that he had gone to a bar and drank two beers before returning home.
Roseburg Police Department goes through major changes to increase employment
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Roseburg Police Department (RPD) is looking to introduce a new program that would ultimately lighten up staff hours. RPD is instituting a new 32-hour work week program that became effective on July 1, 2024. A change that the staff hopes will be an incentive for applicants looking to sign on.
FIRST RESPONDERS DEAL WITH FIRE IN THE CAMAS VALLEY AREA
First responders dealt with a fire in the Camas Valley area on Saturday. Douglas Forest Protective Association Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said just before 10:30 a.m. crews from DFPA, the Coos Forest Protective Association, Tenmile Rural Fire District, Camas Valley Rural Fire District, Lookingglass Rural Fire District, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the report of a quarter of an acre grass fire along Highway 42 westbound between mile markers 58 and 59.
REEDSPORT POLICE WITH NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT IN AUGUST
Reedsport Police Department is inviting the community for a fun evening at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th. Attendees can meet the community’s first responders, enjoy free food, games, prizes, and much more. It will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lions Park on South 20th Street. The event is taking place in partnership with the Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Lower Umpqua Hospital.
