Southern Oregon floating offshore wind clears one bureaucratic hurdle in a long process
Oregon’s coast is inching closer to generating renewable electricity using floating offshore wind turbines, though any construction is still years away. On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, or BOEM, announced it has finalized an environmental assessment. The assessment looked at potential impacts from issuing leases to develop floating offshore wind in the region. BOEM is the federal agency tasked with identifying, proposing and leasing the ocean areas.
OHSU-designed metric aims to improve social-emotional health services for young children
A new metric developed by the Oregon Health & Science University Oregon Pediatric Improvement Partnership, or OPIP, will measure and incentivize young children’s social-emotional health treatments from clinicians contracted with Coordinated Care Organizations. This effort aims to improve the health care system for patients from birth to 5 years old, for both immediate development benefits and long-term health outcomes.

Oregon: Detectives Thwart Break-In Attempt on Their Own Undercover Police Vehicle
Eugene, OR – Two individuals were arrested Monday morning after allegedly attempting to break into an undercover police vehicle in Eugene’s River Road area. According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on August 13 when detectives, who were working in the area, noticed suspicious activity near their unoccupied vehicle. A nearby detective observed two people, later identified as Melissa Marie Jones, 42, and Trinidad Robert Perez, Jr., 61, appearing to case cars in the parking lot.
