2 killed in stolen car crash identified as former students at Portland high school
PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - Two people killed in a stolen car crash last week in southeast Portland have been identified as former students at Ida B. Wells High School. The incident happened during the early morning hours on Tuesday, June 25, when Gresham police tried to stop a car at Southeast 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. Police say the driver did not stop and ended up crashing into another car and a utility pole at Southeast 139th Avenue and Southeast Division Street.
Oregon girl one of 200 missing children found in nationwide operation
The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), with the help of local law enforcement agencies, conducted a six-week national operation, leading to the recovery of 200 missing children. According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), this was the second Operation We Will Find You 2. The operation took place from May 20 to June 24. It focused on geographical areas with high clusters of critically missing children. One of the areas was Portland, Oregon.

Small plane crash at Scappoose Airport sends pilot to a hospital with injuries
An investigation is underway into a single engine plane crash that occurred Wednesday, July 2, at Scappoose Airport. The Scappoose Police Department says the pilot of the craft was taken to a local hospital with injuries. An online post from authorities said the airport was closed down July 2 and that the incident is being investigated by Scappoose Police and the Federal Aviation Administration. The post said the Port of Columbia County was notified and on site following the incident. Oregon State Police and the Scappoose Fire District assisted in responding to the incident.

Driver charged with assault after hitting motorcyclist
A driver is facing felony assault and other charges after crashing into a motorcyclist on the Sunset Highway. On Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 3:05p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct were dispatched to a report of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on eastbound Highway 26 at the Southwest Sylvan Road overpass. When they arrived, they encountered an overturned 2006 Subaru Legacy Outback and a downed 2016 Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was seriously injured and was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The Subaru driver, David J. Bumgardner, 60, of Beaverton, Oregon, did not report himself to be injured.
