Collins Fire Department to expand, upgrade training center. SUMMARY: The Belt Fire Department is enhancing and expanding training for its crew and regional departments. The Collins Fire Department shared photos on Facebook of their new flammable liquid SP training props, fully funded by the 2023-2024 Homeland Security Grant. CFD is now clearing land on the north end of their training center to install the props, with plans to host new training courses and sessions.
Police pursuit from Jackson ends in a Flowood hedge
A man is in custody after leading police on a chase from Jackson to Flowood. According to authorities, the pursuit began in Capitol Police Department’s jurisdiction. The route of the chase has not been released, but there were officers on scene from Capitol, Flowood, Rankin County, Pearl, and Mississippi Highway Patrol after the suspect wrecked his small Dodge SUV in a hedgerow between Logans and McAllisters in Dogwood.
