RIDGELAND, Miss. ( WJTV ) – The City of Ridgeland broke ground on a $9.6 million water tank on Wednesday, July 17. The water tank will be located near Highland Colony Parkway.

Plans for the tank began in 2020, but they were delayed multiple times due to the pandemic.

The water tank will hold 100 million gallons of water, which will provide a 30% capacity increase.

Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee said the project will allow the city to continue to grow.

“When you have something like the Amazon Web Services coming to Ridgeland and Topgolf and other developments, you’re needing to provide additional sources for water and resources. and so, this is just another step to provide the resources that are necessary,” said McGee.

Officials expect the project will be completed by the start of 2026.
