RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Facing a blistering heat index, Bergen County officials are doing what they can to help residents beat the heat. Consequently, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has opened several "cooling centers" throughout the county where residents can find respite from the unforgiving heat.

Although none of the centers are located in Ridgewood, they are a short drive away for anyone looking to get out of the sun. Additionally, county officials are reminding residents that public libraries and shopping centers can serve as an oasis from the heat in a pinch.
