Clinton Township Man Charged with Torturing Woman over Alleged Drug Debt
A 34-year-old Clinton Township man, Darren John Dawson, has been charged with multiple felonies after a 58-year-old woman was found to have been allegedly tortured and imprisoned over a drug debt. According to CBS News Detroit, Dawson held the woman against her will for approximately six months, from November 2023 to April 2024, and is accused of having confined the victim in a closet in his apartment. In addition to the physical abuse, Dawson also allegedly stole her Social Security money and food stamps.
Stellantis warns union of potentially thousands of job cuts at plant outside Detroit
Stellantis is warning union workers that it could lay off as many as 2,450 of the 3,700 union workers employed at a truck plant just outside of Detroit. The job cuts would be at the Stellantis Warren Truck Plant, which builds an older version of the Ram 1500 pickup called the Tradesman, sold mainly to commercial businesses. The company came out with a new version of the truck in 2018, and for the 2025 model year there's a new Tradesman.

Riley Township man sentenced to maximum 20 years for setting ex-girlfriend’s vehicle, garage on fire
A St. Clair County man has been sentenced to a minimum of 30 months, maximum of 20 years in prison for setting his ex-girlfriend’s house on fire in September 2023. 31-year-old Zachary Zielonka of Riley Township pled no contest in June 2024 to a charge of second degree arson and first degree home invasion, both of which are 20 year felonies. He was sentenced Tuesday, August 6, by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Julie Gatti.
