Marine City to fund $26 million water infrastructure project with grant, loan
The Marine City Commission on Aug. 1 voted unanimously to move forward with issuing $12.225 million in bonds to fund part of a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund project. Commissioner Brian Ross made the motion to approve the ordinance, which provides for the acquisition, construction, installation, furnishing and equipping of additions and improvements to the city’s water supply and sewage disposal system. City Manager Scott Adkins said the ordinance is a portion of the safe drinking water program that the city has ongoing.

‘Alyce, a Musical Fairy Tale’ premiers at Meadow Brook Theatre

A collaborative effort between two longtime metro-Detroit friends, David Fazzini — Oxford resident and director of choirs for Notre Dame Prep high school in Pontiac — and Mitch Carter — Grosse Pointe Park editor and prolific performance photographer — “Alyce” is billed as a story of love, courage and magic with adult and children’s choruses, costumed dancers and a 15-piece orchestra comprised of professional musicians. Inspired by Nathanel Hawthorne’s 1852 fable, “Feathertop,” the new musical features Fazzini’s original scores, and Carter’s story and lyrics.

Armada Fair returns starting Monday
Music, rides, food and entertainment will all be part of the Armada Fair, which opens in the village’s downtown Monday. That same day, the main music attraction, North Carolina native Cooper Alan will take the main stage at 8:30 p.m. Alan, 23, is an up-and-coming country artist whose hits include “New Normal”, “Tough Ones”, “Colt 45” and “Can’t Dance.” Cost to get into the show is $15 for an infield armband, standing room only, sold until 9 p.m.

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI -- Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido announced charges Thursday against a Clinton Township man accused of holding a woman hostage for months over a drug debt. Darren Dawson, 34, was arraigned on charges of torture, unlawful imprisonment, and larceny by conversion of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000 in connection with the alleged months long abuse.
