Macomb County and state officials have decided to postpone their National Night Out event scheduled for Tuesday at Freedom Hill County Park due to expected stormy weather. “Based on predicted weather and current Freedom Hill County Park conditions, Macomb County law enforcement agencies have decided to postpone our National Night Out event until next week — Tuesday, August 13,” Jennifer Putney, spokesperson for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, said Monday.

Police: 5 suspects nabbed for home invasion; likely part of international crime ring
Five men from South America and Mexico who police say are likely connected to an international crime ring are facing charges for breaking into a Troy home last Thursday. The crime was reportedly spotted by the homeowner who called police after watching a masked intruder via a camera inside his residence in the 3600 block of Millay Drive, shortly before 1 p.m., while at work.
Over 250 pounds of cocaine seized at Blue Water Bridge
Authorities seized 266 pounds of cocaine from a semi-truck at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron on Aug. 1, officials said. The suspect, Juli Sabosan Sathiaseelan, 42, of Canada, has been arraigned in the 72nd District Court, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. He was lodged at the St. Clair County Detention and Intervention Center with bond set at $3 million.
Woman dies after fiery Sterling Heights crash
A 54-year-old woman is dead and a 30-year-old man was injured after a fiery crash early Sunday in Sterling Heights, officials said. Sterling Heights police said officers and firefighters were called at about 1:50 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and 15 Mile Road for a report of a vehicle collision and fire.
