US road rage shootings soar by 400% in under a decade
WASHINGTON (TND) — Road rage shootings are on the rise in the U.S., according to a recent analysis from The Trace, an organization dedicated to reporting on gun violence. The report shows the number of people shot in road rage incidents increased from 92 in 2014 to 481 in 2023, a more than 400% increase. The incidents led to 777 deaths.
Ira Township sees improvements, new features
Improvements and new features are coming to Ira Township and Ira Parks and Recreation. In 2022, Ira Township purchased a 99-acre parcel near its existing municipal park, which spans from Short Cut Road to M-29. The township is working with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and consultants Kim Harmer and Nancy Winzer for design and engineering.

The St. Clair County Quilt Trail continues to grow throughout the county, now with 26 blocks. A quilt trail is a series of painted wood or metal quilt square blocks that are hung on buildings or free standing. They are placed along a route emphasizing local architecture, history or significant landscapes or properties. The St. Clair County Quilt Trail is one of 22 trails in the state of Michigan and has created many colorful and meaningful quilt blocks that are on display locally in Algonac and on Harsens Island, as well as in Clay, Cottrellville, Columbus and Emmett townships.
