Homegrown talent tabbed on third day of MLB Draft
ROANOKE, Va. – The 2024 MLB Draft has come to a close but not before more familiar names were taken off the board. Virginia Tech infielder Christian Martin was tabbed by the St. Louis Cardinals in Round 18 at pick No. 531. The Amherst County native and former Lancer had career highs in hits (63), home runs (6) and RBI’s (36) in 2024. In fact, Martin ranked second on the team in runs (59) behind only Carson DeMartini. In his three years in Blacksburg, Martin carried a .313 career batting average.
Virginia Tech in the mix for 4-star Class of 2025 safety
One area of recruiting that Virginia Tech football has excelled in the spring and early summer was recruiting within the state of Virginia.
