The international disc golf competition will take place August 21-25 at New London Tech and Ivy Hills. Disc golf has surged in popularity in recent years, captivating enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds with its unique blend of athleticism, strategy, and accessibility. Originating from humble beginnings in the 1960s, often as a casual pastime among friends, disc golf has evolved into a global phenomenon with a rapidly growing community. One of the key draws is its simplicity: players aim to complete each hole in as few throws as possible, using specialized discs designed for distance, accuracy, and control.
A major pattern shift heads our way
After another afternoon of extremely warm temperatures and increased humidity, there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel. We initially though Roanoke had hit another high of 103° Tuesday afternoon, however, The National Weather Service has determined the sensors at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport were faulty today and they aren’t certain we got quite that hot. So far, the official reading for the high was 100°. Technicians are headed out to repair the sensors Wednesday and we’ll know more.

Virginia Tech tabs three players to represent Hokies at 2024 ACC Kickoff
The ACC has released the player representatives for the ACC Football Kickoff, which will take place at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina from July 22 - 25. Virginia Tech Head Coach Brent Pry will be joined by Quarterback Kyron Drones, Defensive Lineman Antwaun-Powell Ryland Jr., and Cornerback Dorian Strong to represent the Hokies for the Kickoff Event later this month. In total, 59 student-athletes from all 17 ACC affiliated programs will be represented during the four day event.
