Chicken restaurant set to open in Vinton
VINTON, Va. (WDBJ) - A fast-casual chicken restaurant will open Saturday in Vinton. HCK Hot Chicken, according to a news release, is a franchise “known for its fiery Nashville-style cuisine and distinctive premium sauces.” Its first outlet in southwest Virginia opens July 20 at 2499 East Washington Avenue, with a grand opening event running from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

UVA Basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton announced Thursday the signing of Payton Dunbar (Narrows, Va.), who will join the Cavaliers for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. A 5’11” guard, Dunbar was homeschooled, and recently made the decision to reclassify to the Class of 2024. Dunbar competed for Jefferson Christian Academy (Ripplemead, Va.), where she averaged 27 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block per game.
