Greater Des Moines Band Concert Happening in Perry Monday
A concert is set to take place in the Perry community on Monday. The Greater Des Moines Band is hosting an outdoor concert at the Perry Lutheran Homes Eden Acres Campus, 1300 28th Street, in Perry. According to the band, the event is free and is happening in the east parking loop at the Eden Acres Campus.
Next Jefferson Library Author Talk Series Focuses on New Iowa History Book
The Jefferson Public Library is hosting its next Author Talk Series on Sunday. Library Director Jane Millard says an Iowa State University American History Professor Jeff Bremer recently published his book, “A New History of Iowa.” She tells Raccoon Valley Radio this book reaches all the way back to the original inhabitants of Iowa and marches through chronically through different events in the state’s history. Millard talks about why Bremer wanted to write a historical book of the Hawkeye State.
RVR Broadcasting Live at Perry Chamber’s 2nd Street Block Party Tomorrow
The Perry Chamber’s 2nd Street Block Party is happening tomorrow with Raccoon Valley Radio broadcasting prior to the festivities. The chamber is gearing up for its third annual street block party inviting people 21 years and older to come out to enjoy a night of fun. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti states that Oreo Meatwagon Trio will provide musical entertainment. She details that the event will help raise money for the chamber.
Dallas County Conservation Board Hosting Bird Hike Tomorrow
An event with the Dallas County Conservation Board is happening tomorrow, featuring some flying creatures. The conservation board invites the public to join them for a bird hike that will give participants a chance to see different species. According to the board, summer can be challenging as many birds tend to go silent in the nest. However, by mid-July, more birds emerge with younger ones learning the basic necessities of flying and capturing food.
