Council Learns More About Community Liaison
–The Algona City Council heard a presentation from Community Liaison Marissa Miller during a work session held Monday afternoon. The position is being implemented at Law Enforcement offices across the state as a way to provide more time-focused assistance to the public, while also allowing Police and Sheriff’s Officers to get back to other case work more quickly. Miller highlighted the number of calls she has assisted officers with over the last year.
Wildcat Runners Using Summer to Prepare
With fall sports on the horizon at West Central Valley, Wildcat cross country runners have also been using the summer to prepare for the upcoming season. In addition to the morning training sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays focused on speed, agility, and weight training the cross country runners use their mornings to run together to get back into cross country shape. When asked what the summer workouts look like at West Central Valley, activities director Jim Lindsay commented on how the cross country team is taking advantage of their summer vacation time. While mentioning how juggling ones schedule can be difficult when softball and baseball were in season, Lindsay mentioned that now, “cross country has their run club in the morning” as they anxiously await the beginning of the season.
