SPENCER, Idaho — Two Utahns riding a motorcycle in Idaho were killed in a crash on July 22, Idaho State police say. According to a press release, the single-vehicle accident happened on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 at approximately 10:51 a.m. Police said the motorcycle, driven by a 69-year-old man from Farr West, Utah, lost control of the bike and crashed.

ST. GEORGE — Some area residents may have felt the ground tremble Sunday night when an earthquake hit Southern Utah. The tremor, centered 15 miles from Brian Head and at a depth of 12.2 miles, was felt by residents in four states, according to information posted by the United States Geological Survey. The time of the earthquake was recorded at 11:29 p.m. and reported as a magnitude 4.5 quake. An earthquake of 4.0 magnitude can cause moderate damage, according to the USGS.

Brilliant minds: Pocatello students take first in their category in solar car challenge
POCATELLO — After months of work constructing their own solar vehicle, a group of Pocatello students took first place in a test of their car’s durability. Chris Ulland, 18, Logan Friesen, 18, and Krystof Oresky, 17, were the three members of Russet American Racing who attended the 2024 Solar Car Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, and won first place in the classic division. This was the first year that students from Pocatello participated. They were the only team from Idaho to compete this year, and they were the second team ever to qualify with only three attending members.
