New Challis water tank under construction
Construction of the new water reservoir for the city of Challis started earlier than expected and is going well, Mayor Corey Rice reported at the June 11 City Council meeting. “They poured two walls of the new reservoir today,” Rice said. “They weren’t even going to start until August and it is rolling.”

Excessive Heat Alerts are in place across all of Washington, most of Oregon and Idaho this week as triple-digit temperatures arrive during the first heat wave of the year. From Saturday to Friday, the Inland Northwest will be under either an Excessive Heat Warning or Advisory as daytime highs reach well into the 90s and triple digits, especially by Tuesday and Wednesday -- Spokane is under the warning.
