River Edge-based personal injury law firm Brandon J. Broderick is launching a commercial and residential real estate practice.

A recent press release announced the expanded services. According to the firm, Matthew Dank will lead the new group. The attorney has 15 years of experience managing a real estate legal practice in Bergen County.

The Hillsdale resident has represented thousands of clients throughout the state. His work includes helping buyers and sellers navigate one of the biggest financial transactions of their lives. At Brandon J. Broderick law firm, his in-depth real estate experience adds to a portfolio of established practices in personal injury law, employment law, worker’s compensation law and business litigation.

“Our new practice in residential and commercial real estate will offer superior legal advice to clients,” Brandon Broderick, the firm’s founding attorney and chief executive officer, commented. “Clients will benefit from being represented by a firm that has settled nearly $1 billion in injury claims under the most adversarial of circumstances. Our success in personal injury negotiations will translate into successful real estate transactions for our clients since we clearly understand how to handle tough transactions.”

He went on to note how excited the firm is to branch out into real estate, since it is “typically less adversarial than other areas of law, such as personal injury cases.” In real estate law, Broderick said, parties usually seek the same outcome to guide and help buyers and sellers achieve their goals.

The 40-attorney firm also operates in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Ohio.

    An evolving practice

Brandon J. Broderick is evolving into a billable-hour practice, and this new additional field of law will aid in that transition, Broderick added.

“I’m delighted to welcome Matthew to the firm. He brings a sophisticated understanding of real-estate transactions involving the purchase and sale of properties," he went on to say.

“More importantly, he’s a compassionate attorney who understands that buying or selling a property is more than just a financial transaction: It’s an emotional experience. Matthew has great powers of empathy and develops a close rapport with clients that enables successful transactions, both emotionally and financially,” Broderick added.

After earning a law degree from Rutgers School of Law, Dank served a clerkship in Bergen County. He also worked at a New Jersey land trust. In that position, Dank coordinated federal, state and local funding to acquire lands for public use and protected status.

Following his time at the conservancy, Dank opened his own real-estate legal practice in Bergen County. There, he leveraged his knowledge of land acquisition and applied it to residential real estate.

At Brandon J. Broderick, Dank said he looks forward to assisting buyers and sellers from a wider geographic area.

“I’m excited to join Brandon J. Broderick at this point in my career,” said Dank. “I had my own practice for many years, so joining a major law firm filled with esteemed attorneys and unlimited resources will enable me to service more clients effectively.”
