Historic Kimbell Milling Company Offices in Fort Worth Risk Demolition in 180 Days Without Developer
The Kimbell Milling Company Offices, located at 2109 S. Main Street, face potential demolition if no developer is found within the next 180 days. Built in 1929, this building served as the office for entrepreneur Kay Kimbell’s various companies, including the Kimbell Milling Company, which constructed the adjacent grain elevators. Kay Kimbell, an avid art collector, founded the Kimbell Art Foundation, which later evolved into the Kimbell Art Museum. The cylindrical, curved concrete of the nearby grain elevators is said to have inspired Louis Kahn’s design of the Kimbell Art Museum’s iconic 1972 building.
