CHICAGO — The man who stabbed a Target security guard while on probation for beating an EMT into unconsciousness last year has been given a six-year prison sentence. Roman Butler, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm in exchange for the sentence from Judge Charles Burns.

CHICAGO — A career bank robber has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for robbing three banks in downtown Chicago after escaping from a halfway house. Federal prosecutors said Kenneth Anderson actually robbed at least nine banks, about one per week, between the time he left the halfway house and his latest arrest. They charged him with five of those holdups, and Anderson, 57, pleaded guilty to three.

CHICAGO (CBS) — The son of jailed former Sinaloa Cartel kingpin Joaquin El Chapo Guzman is due in federal court in Chicago on Tuesday after surrendering to American authorities. Joaquin Guzman Lopez may have been working with American officials to arrange his surrender, but he may have fooled another drug trafficker, Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, into entering the United States. Guzman Lopez apparently told Zambada they were going to take a small plane to look at real estate in northern Mexico on Thursday. Instead, they landed near El Paso, Texas, where federal authorities were waiting and took them both into custody. Zambada cofounded the Sinaloa Cartel with El Chapo decades ago. It is not clear why El Chapo's son may have betrayed him.
