Joliet Police Investigating West Side Shooting
On July 29, 2024, at 1:51 a.m., Officers responded to the Fairfield Inn (1501 Riverboat Center Drive) for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers located multiple spent shell casings on the ground in the parking lot and what appeared to be shattered glass from a vehicle. Following a canvass of the immediate area, Officers were unable to locate any victims or suspects and nothing else appeared to have been struck by gunfire. No shooting victims were located following a check of area hospitals. Officers learned that hotel staff contacted 911 after overhearing multiple rounds of gunfire in the parking lot.
Man Shot Near Downtown Parking Garage, Found By Casino
On July 29, 2024, at 5:08 a.m., Officers responded to Harrah’s Casino (151 North Joliet Street) for a male that had arrived at this location after reportedly being shot at a different location in downtown Joliet. Upon arrival, Officers located a 37-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound to each of his legs. The victim was transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. The victim’s injuries are considered to be non-life threatening.

13 years for man who robbed several banks while on probation for bank robberies
CHICAGO — A career bank robber has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for robbing three banks in downtown Chicago after escaping from a halfway house. Federal prosecutors said Kenneth Anderson actually robbed at least nine banks, about one per week, between the time he left the halfway house and his latest arrest. They charged him with five of those holdups, and Anderson, 57, pleaded guilty to three.
