    'The Bodyguard' and 'West Wing' Actor Dies at 90

    Actor Bill Cobbs has died. He was 90.

    The veteran actor passed away at his home in Riverside, Calif., during the evening hours on Tuesday, June 25, according to a statement his publicist, Chuck I. Jones , shared with TMZ .

    Cobbs, born June 16, 1934, in Ohio, is best known for his role as Master Tinker in the action-fantasy flick Oz the Great and Powerful (2013), Grandpa Booker in The People Under the Stairs (1991) and for playing Del Paxton in That Thing You Do! (1991).

    He got his start acting while in his late 30s, after quitting his job in sales and moving to New York, where he began appearing in small theatre productions before making a feature film debut in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) and accepting his first small screen role in the educational program Vegetable Soup a year later, per his IMDb bio .

    His decades-long career also includes credits in The Bodyguard (1992), Air Bud (1997), as well as cartoon series Rugrats , fan-favorite crime dramas like Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation , and his stints in several TV sitcoms, including The Drew Carey Show , Go On also starring Matthew Perry and My Wife and Kids alongside Damon Wayans and Tisha Campbell .

    In 2020, he won one of the two Daytime Emmy Awards he was nominated for following his role in the children's TV series Dino Dana , taking home the award for Outstanding Performance.

    Information regarding Cobb's cause of death and memorial plans have not yet been made public.
