RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) — Nearly 40 years ago, a convenience store clerk was killed after being shot several times during a robbery in the midst of a winter blizzard.

According to James Mitchell, brother of Mary Alice Mitchell, Mary was gunned down during a robbery at the convenience store where she worked. Her family confirmed that she wasn’t supposed to be working that night, but was filling-in for a coworker who was unable to make it in when she was killed.

“He took my sister’s life and he should never be let out,” Mitchell said.

Prosecutors say Dennis Roscoe Jones shot all six rounds into Mitchell. Jones was convicted and sentenced to 20-years -to-life in prison for murder.

He has currently been denied parole several times, but will be eligible again in August.

Letters to support to deny Jones’ parole must be received by Aug. 16 for consideration.
