ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Pleasant conditions will continue for the next couple of days as high pressure remains in control of our weather.

Temperatures will be below average again on Tuesday with temperatures starting in the 40s and 50s with highs in the 70s and 80s.

The break from the heat is quite nice in what is typically the hottest month of the year. The average high temperature holds steady at 88 throughout the month with low temperatures increasing from 66 at the start of the month to 68 at the end. July is typically the third wettest month of the year behind June and May.

Don’t get used to the cooler air, as heat will return for the latter part of the week and the weekend. Rain chances return again on Thursday.

In the tropics, as of 11 p.m. Monday, Beryl is a Category 5 storm with winds of 160 mph. It is the earliest forming Category 5 storm in the Atlantic Basin. The former record holder was Emily on July 16th, 2005. The storm should start to weaken later this week as wind shear increases.
