    What will be closed in SW, Central Virginia on Fourth of July?

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR )—With the Fourth of July holiday quickly approaching, stores, banks, pharmacies, government administrative offices, and facilities will be closed in observance of the federal holiday. However, some locations will remain open during the holiday for any last-minute purchases and needs.

    Here is a list of a variety of localities and their operations on Independence Day:

    Fourth of July Celebrations in Southwest Virginia

    Local Administrative Offices:

    Amherst County: County officials say all administrative offices will be closed on Independence Day on Thursday, July 4. Closed as well will be the Amherst County Landfill and all Convenience Centers.

    Botetourt County : Botetourt County Administrative Offices and the Botetourt County Landfill will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

    Campbell County: Campbell County is closed in observance of Independence Day and will reopen on July 5 at 8:30 a.m. Vital public safety and law enforcement services will continue.

    Carroll County: Carroll County government offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.

    Roanoke: Roanoke’s Government administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 to observe Independence Day. Trash Collection will run a revised schedule and Thursday’s Routes will be collected on Friday, July 5.

    Lynchburg: The City of Lynchburg says all Lynchburg municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Trash collections scheduled for the holiday will take place on Friday, July 5.

    Blacksburg: The Town of Blacksburg says all town administrative offices will be closed on Independence Day. Trash pick-ups in all quadrants, except for the Northeast Quadrant, will continue as usual on their regularly scheduled days.

    Danville: According to officials with the City of Danville, City Council voted to extend the Independence Day holiday in the city by closing the Municipal Building and all other government offices on both Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5. Also, public works will collect household trash and yard waste on Thursday and Friday as regularly scheduled.

    Banks:

    Banks will be closed on the Fourth of July as it is observed as a federal holiday. Locally, these banks include:

    • Wells Fargo
    • Bank of Botetourt
    • First Citizens Bank
    • Truist Bank
    • FirstBank

    Although banks will remain closed, ATMs outside the store and in other areas will work normally.

    Banks will reopen on a regular schedule on Friday, July 5.

    Pharmacy:

    CVS Pharmacy: CVS stores and pharmacies will remain open during the Fourth of July holiday, however, they will be operating on a special holiday schedule. Before visiting, check your local CVS Pharmacy website to see their hours of operation.

    Walgreens: Local Walgreens stores will be open on the Fourth of July. However, pharmacies will be closed on the holiday and operations will continue as usual on Friday, July 5.
