COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) A Boone County man was charged with first-degree domestic assault on Tuesday after he allegedly strangled a woman during an attack on Thursday. Michael Tyrone Richardson, 57, was booked into the Boone County Jail at 12:42 a.m. Tuesday and is being held without bond. A court date has not been set. One of two men arrested for their role in a Boone County overdose death is scheduled for trial. A Columbia man arrested earlier this year with almost eight ounces of methamphetamine is sentenced to prison. Gregory Kespohl, 54, had been charged with second-degree trafficking but he pleaded down to delivery of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to five years in prison. Kespohl will serve the sentence concurrent with a current seven-year prison sentence for possession of a controlled substance.

A settlement is reached in a wrongful death lawsuit involving a University of Missouri student whose burned body was found last year. The body of Samuel Clemons, 21, formerly of Jefferson City, was found in a burn pit at a home on Bentley Court in Columbia in January of 2023. Court records claim Emma Adams, 22, lured Clemons to the home where she stabbed him, then burned his body in a burn pit. Adams claims Clemons attacked her.

Columbia teen heads to trial in October for allegedly pulling gun on drug dealer
A second Columbia teen accused of attempting to rob a drug dealer at gunpoint is scheduled for trial. Tyler Lopinto, 18, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon. An October murder trial has been set for a Columbia man charged with shooting a man to death in 2021 and then fleeing to Iowa. Boone County Circuit Judge Jeff Harris has scheduled the trial for 39-year-old Mark Alan Achterberg for October 1 through October 4. Achterberg is charged in Boone County Circuit Court with first degree murder and armed criminal action. He’s accused of shooting and killing Justin Stidham in November 2021.
Two men accused of crashing stolen Jeep in Callaway County
Charges are filed against two men who allegedly crashed a stolen Jeep in Callaway County. Z’Kardia Williams, 18, of Columbia, is charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property. Williams is being held on $25,000 bond. Nathaniel Watson is charged with second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
