City of Columbia seeking public input on proposed water rate increases
Columbia Water & Light is proposing water rate increases that will impact customers as a part of the City of Columbia's 2025 fiscal year budget. Residents will have the opportunity to provide input on the budget and the prospective water rate changes during a public hearing on Aug. 5 at the City Council meeting. State Archery Competition to Continue in Branson
An event that brings participants from around the state will continue to be held in Branson. According to a recent post from the City of Branson, the Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program State Tournament will continue to take place at the Branson Convention Center for the next three years. The event, which has been in Branson the last several years, brings over 4,000 students to the region along with their families for the four-day event.
Local Sonic franchisee found dead
A local Sonic Drive-In franchisee was found dead last week in the Lake of the Ozarks area after he was reported missing. The body of Brent L. Johnson, 58, was found July 24 by a volunteer search team near Old Kinderhook golf course in Camdenton, according to a news release from the Camden County Sheriff's Office. Johnson had been reported missing on July 22 after leaving his hotel, and his body was reportedly found in a wooded area near the golf course.
2 killed, 1 injured in shooting outside East St. Louis bar overnight
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Police are investigating after two people were killed in a shooting at a bar in East St. Louis overnight. According to Illinois State Police, the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. at DaBlitz Sports Bar and Grill, located in the 1300 block of N. 9th Street in St. Clair County.
