ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Maplewood Community Library will close and relocate as it undergoes a major expansion and renovation project on July 8.

An alternative service location for library patrons will be available at the former Holy Rosary Church at 414 Lexington Avenue, open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.

Visitors will have access to an all-ages library collection, computers, a copier, fax machine, and will be able to scan documents. Regular library programming and summer reading will take place at the site.

Renovations include the addition of 2,666 square feet to the library and expanded spaces for teens, adults, and children, a new entrance facing Dewey Avenue, new classroom and meeting spaces, updated restrooms, a new children’s outdoor play area, a new parking lot, new lighting and more.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide a space for local children and families to continue to use library services while these substantial transformations take place,” Library Director Patty Uttaro said.

Maplewood Community Library is anticipated to re-open in the spring of 2026.
