ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Walk for Peace was held in Rochester Thursday.

Sponsored by the “So Strong” violence prevention program, the 10th annual Cameron Community Peace Walk raises awareness about gun violence in the Rochester community.

Participants carried handmade signs and sang songs while they took to the street to voice their concerns.

“It really is youth-led,” said youth programs director Mildrena Vega. “They really want to take back their community, especially when the violence is impacting them, and they’re losing friends.”

Cameron Community also holds street outreach events every Tuesday at the Rochester Teen Center.
