ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Rochester man this week after deputies said he walked out of the Brockport Walmart with a “large amount of meat” he did not pay for – and allegedly flashed a knife at another customer who tried to intervene.

Ethan White, 23, was arrested Wednesday night in Seneca County and charged. His charges include Robbery in the First Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree, Petit Larceny, Reckless Driving and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, back on July 14, White walked out into the parking lot with the meat when he was confronted by another man who witnessed the theft. It’s alleged White then flashed a knife at the man – who responded by pulling out his legally owned handgun. Deputies said White left the scene before they got there.

“These are not just petty thefts; we are all paying the price for this lawlessness,” said Sheriff Todd Baxter.

White was arraigned in Sweden Town Court and taken to the Monroe County Jail. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail, or $20,000 bond.
