ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Celebrations were high Friday at many stores as some people celebrate National Cheesecake Day a little early.

To celebrate, News 8 stopped by Cheesy Eddies where they were giving away free slices to their first three thousand customers.

This is the thirteenth year that they have celebrated the day with the public, but was the first time they did it at both locations in Henrietta and on South Avenue.

Officials tell us each year the day becomes bigger and bigger.

“We’re doing 3000 this year and I think we started at 500-600 for the first year we did it back in 2012 I believe, and yes people kept showing up. We were running out earlier and earlier and we figured let’s just make some more slices and make sure everybody was leaving happy, if possible,” Head of Operations Stephen Baker said.

The real National Cheesecake Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30.
