Infant dead after brutal dog attack in upstate NY home

An infant boy died Saturday after he was attacked by two dogs at home in northwest Rochester, police announced Tuesday morning.
Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department on Tuesday described the fatal encounter as "incredibly tragic."
Emergency responders were called a Bidwell Terrace residence around 1 p.m. Saturday as it was reported that several dogs had attacked an infant.
Officers found that a 3-month-old boy had suffered "severe trauma" to his body and he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital . The baby boy, who was not identified, died from his injuries, Bello said.
Two 'pit bull-type' dogs taken from home after attack
Rochester's Animal Control Services secured two "pit bull-type dogs" from the home that authorities believe attacked the boy.

RPD's Major Crimes Unit, the Monroe County's District Attorney’s Office, and Child Protective Services are investigating the incident, including the circumstances leading up to the child’s death, Bello said.
No charges have been filed in connection with the baby's death.
