Warm and muggy Thursday with a risk for severe weather in the evening
We’re off to a mostly cloudy start to the morning as high pressure slides out of the area. Most areas are starting off the morning in the low to mid 60s. Those cloudy skies will dominate throughout the day with an isolated chance at some showers and storms throughout the day. Meanwhile, a front hangs out to our west and will come into play later this evening, posing a threat of severe weather. Out ahead of the front, winds will pick up and get breezy out of the south, ushering in more low-level moisture and bringing our temperatures back up to the low 80s by the afternoon. These storms are expected to organize into a squall line, with the biggest impacts heading our way between 6 and 10 pm. The primary threats will be damaging winds and heavy rain, while large hail and an isolated tornado risk remain secondary concerns. These storms have prompted the Storm Prediction Center to issue a level 2 out of 5 risk of severe weather for most of the area this evening. Make sure to stay weather aware! Should any complexes of showers and storms develop earlier in the day, our risk for severe weather will likely be much lower.
