ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Chicago man has been charged with killing a man in Rockford in December of 2021.

According to the Rockford Police Department, Robert Bingehneimer was shot in the entryway of an apartment building in the 500 block of S. 2nd Street around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021. He died a short time later, police said.

Investigators later determined that Bingenhemier had been in a verbal argument with Marnell Fulton, 31, outside a nearby residence before he was shot.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes department identified Fulton as the suspect. He is currently in custody in the Cook County Jail on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, police said.

Fulton has been charged in Winnebago County with First Degree Murder, and Armed Habitual Criminal.
