ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Nearly 700 people participated in the annual 4th of July Classic Run/Walk for Lifescape Community Services.

The races included an 8K run, a 2-mile run, and a Family Fun Walk, and began and finished on Madison Street near the Rockford Trolley Station.

Free t-shirts and other giveaways, like medals, cash prizes, and gift cards, were handed out to local runners.

The races were followed by an awards ceremony for the top finishers.

“This brings kind of every generation together,” said event coordinator Carli Jonet. “From the seniors to middle aged, to the little young ones. It brings everybody’s family together to then be able to support us in the future.”

Participants were given a free pancake breakfast after the race, to thank them for their support.
