ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Jaxson Stauber provided Rockford IceHogs’ fans with a lot of thrills last season. He won’t be doing that again next season.

Stauber has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Utah Hockey Club of the NHL. Utah is the former Phoenix Coyotes franchise.

Stauber won 18 games in goal for the Hogs last season. He set an IceHogs’ franchise record by winning 13 consecutive starts at one point. He also set an IceHogs’ record by recording a shutout streak that stretched over three games.

Stauber appeared in six games with the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2022-23 season posting a 5-1 record. He had a 2.81 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

Stauber also made AHL history when he became the league’s first goaltender to post a shutout and score a goal in the same game. That was on February 16th when the IceHogs defeated the Chicago Wolves.
