ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Only six teams have registered to compete in the 2024 “Rock River Anything that Floats Race”, and organizers are warning the event is in danger of cancelation.

The race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 18th.

“We’re currently offering a special registration fee of just $76, valid until July 18. If we don’t reach the minimum number of registrations by July 18, we’ll be forced to cancel the race and issue refunds to all registered teams and sponsors,” organizers said Thursday.

The annual race features homemade rafts in the 1.65-mile race down the river, with a grand finish at Prairie Street Brewhouse.

The race has helped to raise donations to support local efforts for the Fourth of July celebration, Rockford Ski Broncs, Rock River Trail Initiative and other area non-profits and charities.

Participants can begin registering for the 2024 race on the website at www.rratfr.com . The registration deadline is July 18, 2024.
