ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Davion Neal, 22, for allegedly shooting a man at a Rockford gas station in February.

On February 11th, around 4:54 a.m., officers went to the Swedish American Hospital about a walk-in shooting victim. A witness told police they were at the Shell Gas Station, at 430 West Harrison Avenue, when her car was shot multiple times and gunfire hit the victim.

Surveillance footage showed the victim and the witness walking into the gas station, according to court records. Soon after, occupants of a white Mercury sedan entered the store and one of the occupants was wearing a mask, according to court documents.

Officials said the surveillance video showed the victim leave and get back in the Chevy after seeing the masked man.

The footage then showed another man, later identified as Neal, get out of the Mercury and fire three shots at the Chevy, authorities said.

Police said Neal fired an additional 10 times at the Chevy before the car sped off and jumped a curb going eastbound on Harrison Avenue, said police.

Authorities said the 24-year-old victim was shot in the leg and twice in the upper chest.

Neal is being charged with possession of a firearm without a FOID, aggravated discharge of a firearm, felon possession and use of a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm at a vehicle.
