Just a few days after a couple abandoned a pregnant cat in the alley of a Rockford animal shelter, someone else left two turtles in a bucket outside the same shelter. About a week ago, a man and woman were identified after dumping a pregnant cat in the alley of Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary in Rockford. Now, the shelter is searching for a woman who abandoned two turtles in a bucket outside their establishment.
New tower aims to bring chimney swifts back to Delano
People in downtown Delano may have noticed a new tower on the levee between the Riverside Commons building and the South Fork of the Crow River. That tower, visible from Riverfront Park, was designed to be a habitat for chimney swifts. The birds, once common in the area, have disappeared due to people capping their chimneys, eliminating their roosting and breeding sites.
