New tower aims to bring chimney swifts back to Delano
People in downtown Delano may have noticed a new tower on the levee between the Riverside Commons building and the South Fork of the Crow River. That tower, visible from Riverfront Park, was designed to be a habitat for chimney swifts. The birds, once common in the area, have disappeared due to people capping their chimneys, eliminating their roosting and breeding sites.
Plymouth Police: Juveniles Steal Vehicle, Crash Into Driver in Robbinsdale
A high-speed chase that started in Plymouth and ended in Robbinsale on July 19 sent one person to the hospital, Plymouth police told CCX News. Plymouth police say they spotted a stolen truck traveling southbound on Vicksburg Lane from Chankahda Trail shortly before 11:50 p.m. last Friday. The driver of the stolen vehicle turned east on Rockford Road and accelerated at a “high rate of speed,” police said.

Man carjacked, shot near Loring Park
MINNEAPOLIS — A man is fighting for his life after apparently being carjacked and shot overnight near Loring Park in Minneapolis. Police said in a release that officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Oak Grove St. just before 2 a.m. on reports of a shooting. Arriving squads found a man suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds, and started lifesaving efforts until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
Mankato Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Firearm Charge After Minneapolis Rampage
A Mankato resident, Kamau Evans, has entered a guilty plea to a count of illegal firearm possession after a tense confrontation with Minneapolis police, authorities confirmed. On January 14, 2024, Evans reportedly shattered a window and broke into a woman's apartment in south Minneapolis, prompting her and her two children to flee the scene. A statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office detailed the ensuing chaos as Evans continued his rampage, assaulting people in another home after breaking a sliding glass door.
