The spring sports seasons, and the 2023-24 school year, are winding down now, so there won't be many more chances this year to choose who you believe deserves the Rockford Register Star High School Athlete of the Week

So go in and vote now in the poll for the week of May 6-11. The voting at rrstar.com ends at noon on Friday.

You can email Jay Taft at jtaft@rrstar.com by 9 a.m. each Monday to submit a potential nominee who can be placed on the ballot.

    Ian Blankenship, Hononegah baseball

Blankenship held Boylan to one hit through six innings — two days after Titans had 20 runs on 17 hits against Hono — to lead Hononegah to an 8-1 victory and again tie Boylan for the NIC-10 baseball lead with two games to play.

    Izzy Burd, Winnebago softball

Burd was solid for Winnebago last week, going 7-for-8 at the plate with a home run, four doubles, nine RBIs and six runs scored. She also had a walk and a sac fly.

Jordan Dimke, Honongah track and field

Dimke qualified for the girls state track and field meet in all four of her events last week, and she will look to earn a medal in the high jump, the 300-meter hurdles and the two sprint relays this week in Charleston. The girls state meet is held from Thursday to Saturday.

    Callum Draxinger, Guilford volleyball

Draxinger had nine kills to lead Guilford to the 25-19, 25-27, 25-15 victory Thursday night over Hononegah, which locked up the NIC-10 title for the Vikings.

    Cortlyn Hefty, Belvidere North soccer

Hefty scored five goals in a game twice last week, leading Belvidere North to a pair of 7-0 wins in the last week of the regular season. Belvidere North (18-1) will host Rochelle in a regional opener on Tuesday. Hefty has 62 goals on the season to lead the state of Illinois and ranked seventh in the entire country.

Jesse Kramer, Belvidere North track and field

Kramer, who won the NIC-10 indoor title in the 1,600-meter run in 4:25, repeated the feat at last week's NIC-10 outdoor championship at Auburn in 4:24. His win helped lock in Belvidere North's fourth straight NIC-10 track and field title.

Supreme Muhammad, Winnebago track and field

The senior Winnebago sprinter, and the defending state champion in the Class 1A 200-meter dash, won four events at last week's Big Northern Conference meet, including the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also has the fastest time in 1A in the state this year in the 200 dash.

    Alaina Schwanke, Harlem softball

Schwanke went 4-for-7 with four RBIs in Harlem's two games last week and she leads Harlem in hitting with a .507 average on the season.

    Rachael Setterstrom, Lena-Winslow softball

Setterstrom has been strong on the mound and at the plate all season long for Le-Win. This past weekend she came through in a big way in the regular-season finale. Setterstrom was 3-for-3 with a walk and four runs scored at the plate, and she threw a complete-game four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks as well. She also went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored in Friday's game.

    McKenna Winters, Harlem softball

Winters had a solid week, going 4-for-6 with a walk and three RBIs in Harlem's two games. She is hitting .440 on the season.
