ROCKINGHAM — The final of Richmond Senior High School’s summer athletic camps will get underway this week.

Richmond’s boys and girls basketball programs will host their second development camp starting Tuesday. The three-day camp will wrap up Thursday and is open to boys and girls.

Held in the school’s gymnasium, head coaches Teddy Moseley and Donald Pettigrew have split the camp into two daily sessions this summer, a different format than a year ago.

The morning session will host campers who are five to 10 years old, while the afternoon camp will welcome players 11 to 15 years old.

Each day will run for three hours, starting with the younger group between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. The older age group will participate between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

A recent note from the high school stated that any rising ninth grade student(s) will not be allowed to join camp because of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s mandatory dead week.

With several current and former Raider and Lady Raider basketball players set to help coach the camp, campers are encouraged to “improve your basketball skills, make new friends, and learn valuable life lessons.”

The cost for one player is $65 and two campers in the same family will be $55 per camper. If a family is registering more than two campers, it’s encouraged to contact Moseley.

Day-of registration will be open during Tuesday’s first day of camp for both sessions. Those who pre-registered will receive a camp t-shirt.

Payments can be made in cash (exact amount) or by check made out to Richmond Senior High School.

Parents and guardians will also have to sign a waiver in-person before any campers can participate.

Contact Moseley (910-315-3056) or Pettigrew (910-894-3735) with questions or for more information.
