E-bikes available for lending at Rockland library through pilot program
ROCKLAND — The Rockland Public Library is participating in the newly-launched Maine Library E-Bike Loan Program, through which residents with library cards at participating libraries can borrow Class I electric-assist bicycles and explore how they can help with car-free personal transportation. This is a month-long pilot program provided by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and the Maine Department of Transportation. The program will begin on Monday, July 22.

Celebrated local artist Eric Hopkins recently came to West Bay Rotary’s Thursday morning breakfast meeting to share his thoughts on what drives his art these days, what he cares about, and what continues to move him to create in all forms. With unabashed enthusiasm, he shared the connections he feels with his community through generations and as an artist to create and express those connections. Today, the driving motivator for him is about “legacy.”

Union gains historical additions, modern touches in planning for Sestercentennial
UNION — Randy Scott. Bob Heald. Christmas trees, Elm trees, and time capsules. Through planning Union’s Sestercentennial, themed “looking back to look ahead,” the town gained new features and modern touches to help maintain its roots at what is referred to as the oldest public town common in Maine.
Midcoast Maine Community Action kicks off 2024-25 heating season
Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA) is proud to support the residents of Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). . On July 22, MMCA’s LiHEAP staff in Bath will begin accepting online and walk-in applications for LiHEAP benefits for the 2024-25 heating season. Appointments have already been scheduled into November. The team will also be making themselves available at community hubs around Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties to answer folks’ questions about LiHEAP and review their eligibility for funds. A schedule of these appearances can be found on the Agency’s website.
Annual Islesboro Arts Collective Arts & Crafts Show
(Islesboro, ME) Join members of the Islesboro Arts Collective and Friends for their annual Arts & Crafts Show at the Islesboro Historical Society. The show will feature works from eighteen artists/makers, and hours are Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4, from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. In addition, there will be a reception on Saturday, August 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

LINCOLNVILLE — Lincolnville Center Indoor Flea Market will be held Saturday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the Community Building located at 18 Searsmont Road, Rt. 173, Lincolnville Center. This is the tenth season of the flea market which is held the third Saturday of each month through October.
