COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A beautiful Independence Day in Brevard County was marked by lots of sun and as expected every July 4: large crowds coming to beaches. Strong rip currents remained a concern of lifeguards who told News 6 reporter James Sparvero they stayed busy this Independence Day.
Online survey lets community help shape Brevard’s Brightline station
The Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization launched an online survey to gather public input on Brightline’s proposed rail station in Cocoa. The “Shape Your Station” survey, which ended June 30, asked residents to share their thoughts on amenities, accessibility features and what type of experience they prefer to have at the station planned at State Road 528 and U.S. 1 near Clearlake Road. As part of its Intermodal Passenger Rail Station Feasibility Study, the survey also asked about residents’ travel habits and ideas for developing the station and surrounding lands.
West Melbourne homeowners will see $1 million upgrades to help resolve severe flooding issues

The City of Melbourne Public Works and Utilities Department will be closing Pineapple Avenue between Parkway Drive and Riverdale Drive, in Melbourne, in order to perform embankment erosion control.
