City Commission To Hold Second Tax Rate Hearing Thursday
The second hearing for what amounts to a minor tax increase for Rome residents, despite a decrease in the millage rate, will take place Thursday. The Rome City Commission is scheduled to hold its second hearing on a proposed reduction to the 2024 millage rate by 0.2 mills Thursday at 10 a.m. in the commission chambers at city hall, 601 Broad St. The final hearing will take place on July 22. ...
ACC recommends small bar ordinance
The Rome Alcohol Control Commission has forwarded a recommendation to the full city commission to adopt a small bar ordinance. Currently, any establishment that sells liquor has to meet a 50-50 food-to-drink ratio, unless a variance is granted. There are only two establishments that have such a variance—Old Havana and Combat Market. The small bar ordinance would waive the food-to-drink ratio for certain establishments that meet certain guidelines.
Rome DDA Awards 11 Marketing Grants to Downtown Businesses
The Rome Downtown Development Authority has awarded a total of 11 marketing grants to local businesses.
