NY woman gives birth with same doc who delivered her in hospital room where she was born

A Long Islander gave birth with the same doctor who ushered her into the world 22 years earlier — and did so in the same hospital room, to boot.

The serendipity wasn’t lost on new mom Emoni Wise, or her own mother, Carmella.

“My mom was pretty ecstatic. It was really an emotional moment for all three of us,” Wise told The Post.

Wise delivered a healthy baby boy July 14 in Delivery Room 4 at Catholic Health Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, with OB-GYN Dr. Jay Seraji overseeing the big event.

But it was never planned for the veteran physician, who has been practicing 29 years, to deliver little Legend Carmello Warren, Wise said.

Wise, who is on maternity leave from her job at T-Mobile, was seeing a female doctor in Seraji’s office towards the end of her pregnancy, but baby Legend came earlier than his July 25 due date and that physician was on vacation.

“So it actually wasn’t planned for Dr. Seraji to deliver him,” she said. “It just ended up happening that way.”

The coincidences kept coming once they arrived at the hospital.

“We were originally supposed to be in another room,” Wise recalled. “And then we went into the room and my mom was like, ‘Why does this room look so familiar?’ and Dr. Seraji was like, ‘Because [Wise] was born in here.'”

Wise started seeing Seraji when she was 14, not knowing he was the man who had delivered her.

“That’s when my mom actually told me the story because I didn’t even know for a really long time,” she said. “I didn’t know he was the actual doctor that delivered me.”

Legend’s middle name is Carmello, after his grandmother, and Wise chose to give the baby the surname Warren, in honor of her late grandfather, Clarence Warren Junior, a US Army veteran and tank sharpshooter who served in Germany during the Vietnam era.

“Him and I were really close,” Wise said of her grandfather. “He passed away when I was in the fifth grade. So I decided to keep his legacy going because he [Legend] is the only boy.”
