ROCKY MOUNT — A host of men’s and women’s prep basketball teams will gather June 25-26 at the Rocky Mount Event Center for the Rocky Mount Summer High School Jamboree.

Conducted in partnership with the city of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department, the fourth annual symposium is sponsored by Choice FM 92.1.

“This event is a fantastic showcase of young talent and community spirit,” said Ricco Johnson, who works for Choice as an account executive. “And we can’t wait to cheer on these incredible athletes.”

    HOOPS AND MORE

Helmed in large part by SouthWest Edgecombe boys varsity coach Michael Mosely, the 56-team event will begin each day at 9 a.m., with scrimmages set to run on all seven courts.

Area fans will have the opportunity to see teams from Nash, Edgecombe, Pitt, Martin, Hertford, Wayne, Beaufort, Johnston, Wake, Wilson, Greene, Cumberland, Craven, Sampson, Camden, Franklin, Rockingham and Onslow counties.

The Game Day Adventure and Arcade will be available for use, featuring an aerial ropes course, 20 thematic climbing walls, arcade games, a soft play area/ballocity and cornhole.

The Level Up Gaming Theater will also contribute to the fun, offering a variety of games on seven high-definition TVs.

For the younger set, a bounce house will be available.

    CONCESSIONS, TICKETS

Attendees will be able to enjoy refreshments at one of the center’s three concession areas, while a DJ will entertain.

Post-hoops, Choice will honor the event’s best male and female players and winning teams.

“We invite everyone to join us for an unforgettable two days of basketball excitement,” Johnson said. “We are looking forward to our partnership making this year the best one yet!”

As of this writing, there is still time for teams to register.

Coaches can visit rockymountevents.com to complete the process — admission price for one day is $15, with both sessions available for $25.
